Keyboarding lesson plan, Word document, 3.1MB

This is a lesson plan that has work successfully for students from the end of first grade through the sixth grade. If you take 4 to 8 weeks at the beginning of the year, and 15-20 minutes a day, your students will each be able to use the computer much more effectively.

LESSON PLANS

My favorite place on the Net to find lessons and good educational sites on the Internet is Education World. Take some time to subscribe to one or all of their newsletters. I especially like the Site Review newsletter that I have been getting for years now.

Education World

Education World mailing list signup

The Lesson Plans Page is where you can search for lessons by subject, or look for lesson plans by seasons by date.

The Lesson Plans Page

edHelper.com is a subscription site that has lesson plans as well as worksheets in many subjects, but the cool part of this is that they have links to over 1,200 Webquests that are separate from the subscription site.

edhelper.com

teachernet.com also has lesson plans and other things, but the best part is their daily cartoon and their bulletin boards that let you print out the parts and have your students color them to create your own bulletin board.

EDUCATION SOFTWARE REVIEWS

SuperKids Education Software Review - in addition to reviews of educational software they have a searchable software price inventory.

SuperKids

Kids Domain has excellent reviews for children's software. They do not review for use in the classroom, but I enjoy their reviews because the include information on actual use by kids and they review unusual as well as very commercial software.

CLIP ART

One of the most requested items when I have been working with other teachers or schools on using technology in the classroom is how do you find copyright free photographs, and clip art.

Art Today is my premier site for clip art. It is a subscription site, but the rate is very reasonable for the over 1.5 million images and other things they have available.

Art Today

Another subscription site is ExpressIt. This site also has great a great collection of images.

ExpressIt

I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that we also have a clip art site (clipartforteachers.com) that has images that are specifically designed for teachers. This site has images that are in categories that match curriculum units.
