About the ICC Science series

This series of thematic curriculum programs were designed to supplement the standard Science curriculum with the utilization of technology in the classroom.

Each product comes complete with a teacher's guide, which contains:
    • reproducible section (10 pages) that introduces the subject in specific reading levels
    • cross-curriculum reproducible activity sheets that can be used for classroom or homework
    • art and science projects that work with materials you already have in the classroom
    • glossary that can be used in the study of the unit
    • bibliography of books for students, in the subject, which work well in the classroom
    • Internet resources and other resources for the teacher about the subject
    • technology matrix and rubrics that can be used with the activities and software
    • instructions and answer key for the teachers use

Each grade specific software program contains:

    • teacher management section, which allows the teacher to make assignments and read and print assessment reports on individual students or all students
    • 45 or more interactive activities for students, which stress understanding, knowledge, and comprehension of the subject
    • natural voices, which read most written information out loud
    • poetry and writing activities, which allow for individual creativity
    • balance-of-nature simulator that allows the student to set the amount of vegetation, predators, and prey that are found in a habitat
Rain Forests, 2-5 and 5-8
Teachers and students alike will enjoy learning about tropical rain forests, their inhabitants, and their importance to the world. Interactive activities are complemented by the resource materials and classroom and reproducible activities included in the teacher's guide. Thematic activities include language arts, science, math, and art. The Intermediate version includes an Internet information hunt and a small group or whole class Rain Forest Expedition.
Rivers, 2-5 and 5-8
Learn about the inhabitants and vegetation of the world's rivers in this innovative curriculum program. Interactive activities and quizzes sharpen vocabulary and knowledge while various writing and poetry activities allow creative expression and demonstration of skills. Consistent with the format of the entire ICC science series, Rivers allows teachers to monitor student work, assign activities to specific students, check student progress, and print out grades. This program looks specifically at the Kings River in California, North American rivers, and rivers of the world.
Oceans, 2-5 and 5-8
Oceans of the world are explored with this combination teacher's guide and CD-ROM. The ICC Oceans teacher's guide comes complete with reference materials, and classroom and reproducible activities to facilitate easy use in the classroom. Assign interactive activities to complement classroom and homework. A combination of presentations will appeal to the many differing ways students learn. The CD-ROM, with its read-out-loud ability, pictures, and sounds assists even non-readers.
Grasslands, 2-5 and 5-8
The world's grasslands are explored in this teacher's guide, complete with reference materials, classroom, and reproducible activities. Specific activities in the teacher's guide and the software allow for the teaching of only American grassland habitats. Students will learn about the inhabitants and vegetation of the various grassland habitats of the world. Activities are designed to sharpen vocabulary and knowledge of the subject.
Forests, 2-5 and 5-8
The quality of forests is the subject of this program and teachers guide that allows teachers and students to explore American or world forest habitats. Students will do interactive activities while working of the software to help them learn specific scientific knowledge. Thematic activities include science, language arts, math, and art. All writing activities in the software allow the student to print a copy to turn in for a grade.
Deserts, 2-5 and 5-8
The uniqueness of desert habitats is explored in this teachers guide, complete with reference materials, classroom and reproducible activities and software with interactive student activities, which are designed to expand student interest and knowledge. The teacher's guide includes language arts, science, math, and art activities centering on the study of the world’s deserts, including activities specifically designed around American deserts.
