About the ICC Language Arts series

This series of thematic curriculum programs were designed to supplement the standard Language Arts curriculum with the utilization of technology in the classroom.

Each product comes complete with a teacher's guide, which contains:

    • reproducible section (10 pages) that introduces the subject in specific reading levels
    • cross-curriculum reproducible activity sheets that can be used for classroom or homework
    • glossary that can be used in the study of the unit
    • bibliography of books for students, in the subject, which work well in the classroom
    • Internet resources and other resources for the teacher about the subject
    • technology matrix and rubrics that can be used with the activities and software
    • instructions and answer key for the teachers use

Each grade specific software program contains:

    • teacher management section, which allows the teacher to make assignments and read and print assessment reports on individual students or all students
    • 45 or more interactive activities for students, which stress understanding, knowledge, and comprehension of the subject
    • natural voices, which read most written information out loud
    • poetry and writing activities, which allow for individual creativity
Biography & Autobiography, 2-5 and 5-8
With ICC Biography/Autobiography activity-based manual and interactive CD-ROM, students learn how to research, edit, and compose a biography or autobiography. Step-by-step instructions take students through the process of choosing a biography subject, collecting and sorting information, creating a time line, interviewing, writing a first and second draft, proofreading, and finally, producing the final draft. Students learn about grammar, punctuation usage, copyright laws, and the importance of proofreading their written material. The accompanying CD-ROM features quizzes, puzzles, and skill-building activities that further aid students in writing well-written biographies and autobiographies.
Informational Reports, 2-5 and 5-8
Designed to effectively guide students through the research and writing process, Informational Reports features a comprehensive student and teacher resource book that provides students with all the necessary materials to effectively research and produce informative reports in the classroom. Students learn how to research a topic through the use of a variety of reference materials including the Internet. They learn how to conduct an interview, understand indexes, use keywords, take notes, and finally, write and proofread their report. The accompanying CD-ROM includes more than 45 interactive activities designed to reinforce student understanding.
Poetry, 2-5 and 5-8
Technology and creativity merge in this interactive program designed to enhance students' knowledge about poetry, as well as encourage creative expression. Students learn about different types of poetry, including acrostic, Haiku, rhyming, onomatopoeia, limerick, cinquain, alliteration, free verse, and imagery. The accompanying CD-ROM includes activities and quizzes that reinforce the poetry lessons students are learning in the classroom.
